"God is ... Mercy"
June 8, 2021
God is ... Mercy
The Lord, the Lord, a God merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness
God's merciful nature brings me ...
1.confidence in Him
For he says to Moses, “I will have mercy on whom I have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I have compassion.” So then it depends not on human will or exertion, but on God, who has mercy.
And the Lord God made for Adam and for his wife garments of skins and clothed them
Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.
2. security in salvation
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for yo
1 Peter 1:3-4
You did nothing to deserve that, and you do nothing to preserve that.
But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved
3. blessing in obedience
Be merciful, even as your Father is merciful
And Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.”
Blessed are the merciful, for they shall receive mercy.
He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And
what does the LORD require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.
